Hollow thermal fabric refers to textiles crafted from hollow fibers. These fibers are designed to trap warm air within their structure, thereby maintaining body temperature and insulating against external cold air. Fabrics produced from such fibers possess permanent thermal properties and offer greater warmth than comparable lightweight materials, making them an excellent choice for high-performance thermal wear.
During their research into thermal fibers, Invista found their greatest inspiration in the fur of polar bears. By emulating the hollow structure of polar bear fur, they developed innovative hollow fibers capable of rapidly and naturally wicking moisture away-drawing it to the fabric's surface layer for evaporation-thereby ensuring the wearer remains warm and dry. This makes them a premier choice for lightweight, high-insulation materials. These fibers are frequently utilized in circular-knit fabrics.
Given that the interior of these thermal fibers is hollow, a primary focus of our manufacturing process is to formulate dyeing protocols that strictly avoid compromising this hollow structure. Specifically, our dyeing recipes incorporate moderate amounts of bulking agents; furthermore, we minimize compression and stacking of the greige fabric within the dye vat and utilize extended temperature-ramp profiles to preserve the hollow structure to the greatest extent possible. Additionally, during the final finishing and setting stage, we apply a measured amount of moisture-wicking softener via a padding process; this enhances the fabric's tactile softness and comfort while simultaneously optimizing its moisture-management capabilities.
